WHAT IS ON GOOD AUTHORITY?
What is On Good Authority?On Good Authority, Inc. (OGA) is an approved provider of continuing education for the mental health professions. Created in 1992, OGA has provided 33 programs for thousands of very satisfied customers.
OGA programs consist of highly enjoyable and informative interviews (not lectures) with leading psychotherapy experts and teachers on their topics of expertise. These interviews are compiled into programs and are available through online download and PDF transcription download. Some programs are still available on audiotape and CDs.
To obtain continuing education credit, after listening to or reading these interviews, the listener then takes a short quiz, available online. The price of online testing is included when one purchases the program in MP3 format. If tapes or CDs are purchased, online testing is available at a small additional charge. The test taker will receive your certificate following successful completion of the test.
Interviews are conducted by Barbara Alexander, LCSW, BCD, founder of OGA, a practicing psychotherapist and educator.
HOW DOES THIS PROGRAM WORK?
How does this program work?A. Select a program and pay for it online or by phone to our office (800) 835-9636. You’ll receive your password information by email immediately.
B. Then, whenever you are ready, listen to or read the interviews. You may wish to print out the tests so that you can answer the questions while you are listening to the interviews.
C. Whenever you are ready, go to the online testing site and take the test. Do not mail the tests to us.
D. Upon successful completion of the test, you will immediately
receive your certificate of CE credit, which you may print out. You may wish to keep a copy of the test.
PURCHASE PRICE
Why are tapes and CDs more expensive than MP3 downloads?For us, it is much less expensive to upload sound or transcripts into the website than it is to duplicate tapes and CDs. Plus, of course, for you, the advantage is in immediacy and the savings on shipping and handling charges.
Why are some programs offered on tape or CD and others are not?
Because we have sold all the inventory of tapes or CDs for those programs.
Do you ever have sales?
Yes. We send notice of sales to our email list. Currently, since we are reducing our inventory, we have frequent sales of the remaining tapes and CDs.
ARE THESE PROGRAMS APPROVED FOR ME?
Social WorkersON GOOD AUTHORITY (OGA) programs have been fully and officially approved and authorized either directly by State Boards or by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) through an affiliation with Continued Learning, Inc.(# 1128), an approved ASWB provider.
Psychologists, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Addictions Counselors
OGA programs are approved for use by Psychologists, Counselors, LPCs, MFTs, and Addictions Counselors through our affiliation with Continued Learning, Inc. (CN) an approved APA, NBCC, and NAADAC provider.
Public Guardians

CAN I USE THESE PROGRAMS TOWARDS MY GRADUATE DEGREE OR FOR OBTAINING MY LICENSE?
No. These programs are designed for the post-graduate mental health professional and are used for license renewal.
CONTINUING EDUCATION QUESTIONS
What’s the difference between a CEU and CEs?Some states require “CEUs.” Generally this means that 1 CEU equals 10 CEs. OGA awards CEs.
What is the phone number for my state board?
These numbers are on the OGA website. Go to Your State Requirements.
I did this program last year. Can I send it again this year?
Absolutely not! Customers can only receive a certificate once for the same program.
A friend/colleague did this program already. Can I just use his/her tests?
No. You must purchase your own programs and your own tests.
ON GOOD AUTHORITY (OGA) programs may not be resold. Only the original purchaser of this course is registered to receive CE credit. Our programs and tests are copyrighted material. HOW CAN I PURCHASE THESE PROGRAMS?
I do not use credit cards. Can I purchase by check?No. Unfortunately, we are not set up for purchases other than by credit cards. Our website is completely secure.
While purchasing, I made an error and should have indicated Visa instead of MasterCard. Please let me know how to correct this. The number and expiration date are correct.
Our secure accounting system automatically recognized that it was a Visa account and not MasterCard; thus the transaction went through without any problem.
What happens after I place my order?
After completing your order, you will receive emails with information as to how to access the sound and tests for the programs ordered. You may download and listen to the programs, burn CDs, print out your own tests, and complete the short multiple-choice quiz online.
I have changed my mind and do not want the programs after all.
1. Our sales are guaranteed for 30 days. (If you purchased tapes or CDs, and if you send the tapes or CDs back in that 30 day period, we will give a full refund, less shipping. 2. Your refund will be by CHECK. We do not issue credit card refunds as it costs us another 3% or 4%.
Do you have group sales?
Because of our extremely reasonable pricing, we no longer offer group sales.
My agency will pay for the program. Can I send in a purchase order?
Unfortunately, we no longer can accept purchase orders. We suggest you pay for the program upfront yourself and turn the receipt in for reimbursement.

Our website is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

THE PRODUCTS
Where are my materials? I ordered 3 weeks ago.1. If you ordered a program in the MP3 format, you will not receive anything in the mail. You ordered sound to be downloaded. You should have received an email with instructions. Please look in your old email. If you do not find it, write us and we will send it asap.
2. If you ordered a program on tape or CD and have not received it, please let us know. Perhaps we had an incorrect address, or perhaps UPS lost it. We will track it for you.
I did not receive my test yet.
We no longer send out paper tests. You may print out your test from the online testing part of our website.
My tape/CD broke (doesn’t work, etc).

HOW DOES THE ONLINE TESTING WORK?
What is the best way to navigate through your website to take a test?You may click on "Instructions for Testing". This will provide a complete overview on site navigation.
When I registered, I entered my email address incorrectly. I’ve tried to change it in the registration form but it doesn’t allow me to update it. I have not received any notifications.
Thank you for notifying us. We have modified your email address in your file. You will now receive all notifications: Thank you for Registering, Thank you for Purchasing Tests, and after you have submitted your test answers, you will receive your score automatically and an email notifying you of the credit you received.
I’ve forgotten my password
Please click on the “Home” button and scroll down to “Forgot your Password” just below the login/password area. Complete the information requested and your password will be emailed to you.
A few days ago I took one of your tests but have not received a score. Please advise ASAP.
We apologize for any inconvenience. In checking our database records, we do not find a record of tests taken for your account. Is it possible that you were logged off the internet due to inactivity? We encourage you to work on the test offline and then login and take the test. Your test will be graded automatically and you will receive your results immediately.

I'm interested in purchasing a test. How do I do this and how will I receive a copy of my purchase?
After you have registered and logged in, you may click on "Course Materials". Please scroll though to view and select your course. Each course listed gives a brief description, amount of CE credit, resource cost, if applicable, and a total price. When you click on a title, you will be prompted to purchase the test. After a successful transaction, the test will be activated in "Purchased Tests" under "My Profile" & "My E-Transcript" for immediate use. You will also receive an automatic email message stating the title of the test purchased, total price, and credit card account used.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TESTS
Are the exams difficult?No! We have shortened and revised our tests and deleted the secret words to make the tests even more user-friendly. You will need a grade of 75% to pass, and people almost never flunk.
We recommend that you read the questions prior to listening to the interviews. Remember that the questions are based on the speakers’ presentations and not on your own point of view.
Where are my Certificates? (For printed tests which were sold prior to April 1, 2006):
1. The main reason for not receiving a certificate is that you may have sent your test to the wrong address.
2. Call PsychoEducational Resources (PER), the company that grades and certifies written tests: 800-892-9249.
3. If you have kept a copy of the tests, to speed things up, send the tests again to PER; PO 2196; Keystone Heights, FL.
My Deadline is next week (or whenever). Will I receive my certificate in time? (For printed tests which were sold prior to April 1, 2006):
1. That depends on you. As soon as you successfully complete your test on line, you will be able to print out your certificate.
2. If you are submitting a written test for a program purchased prior to 4/1/2006, and if you are sending this test to PER, PER puts the date on the CE certificate that you put on their tests (provided it is within thirty days of submission), so you will be covered, unless you have to send the certificate in immediately.
How long does it take to get my certificate? (For printed tests which were sold prior to April 1, 2006):
Two weeks from the time you mail the test. This is mostly because of mailing time.
May I send the Tests to PER by Fax? (For printed tests which were sold prior to April 1, 2006):
This really doesn’t speed things up as PER puts the same date on the certificate that you put on your test (provided it is within thirty days of submission).
But if you simply must fax the test, PER’s fax number is

I lost my test (For printed tests which were sold prior to April 1, 2006):
1. To receive another copy of your test, we can email the test to you by attachment and at no charge. Please send us your email address (ongoodauthority@aol.com).
2. Or you can sign up and pay for online testing.
Can I print out the online tests and mail them to PER?
No. You may certainly print the tests for your own reference, but online tests must be taken online. PER has been instructed to return those tests back to you.
Help! I cannot find the secret word.
You will be happy to learn that OGA has eliminated the use of secret words. If you have an older, written test, you do not have to complete that question. When OGA first began in 1992, we were one of the first “home study” programs, and in order to receive state approvals, we had to make our programs more strenuous. Times have changed and mercifully, we no longer have to do this.
What score will I need to pass?
People need a grade of 75% to pass. People almost never flunk.
